Kodō (鼓童?) is a professional taiko drumming troupe. Based on Sado Island, Japan, they have had a role in popularizing taiko drumming, both in Japan and abroad. They regularly tour Japan, Europe, and the United States. Although the main focus of the performance is taiko drumming, other traditional Japanese musical instruments such as fue and shamisen make an appearance on stage as do traditional dance and vocal performance. Kodo's performance include pieces based on the traditional rhythms of regional Japan, pieces composed for Kodo by contemporary songwriters, and pieces written by Kodo members themselves. The numbers that Kodo perform can change from concert to concert. Kodo's performance normally lasts for about one hour and forty minutes. In Japanese the word "Kodo" conveys two meanings: "heartbeat" the primal source of all rhythm and, read in a different way, the word can mean "children of the drum," a reflection of Kodo's desire to play their drums simply, with the heart of a child. Kodo strives to both preserve and re-interpret traditional Japanese performing arts. From worldwide tours and research trips, Kodo brings back to Sado world music and experiences which now exert a strong influence on the group's performances and compositions. They also collaborate with other artists and composers. Since their debut at the Berlin Festival in 1981, Kodo have given over 3,100 performances on five continents, spending about a third of the year overseas, a third touring in Japan and a third resting and preparing new material on Sado Island.

No-dachi

It looks very elegant and brilliant. They taught us how to wield long swords. But Nodachi is so long. Nodachi weighs about 3kg in the blade about 165cm.

野太刀(No-dachi) is also known as alias 斬馬刀(Zan-ba-toh).
Kanji(Chinese) character have its own meaning. 

野(no) means out field.
太刀(tachi or dachi) means long sword. 

斬(zan) means cut.
馬(ba) means horse.
刀(toh) means sword. 

Samurais were usually using Nodachi at cavalry battle before the Warring States period(16th century).

Un clavo en la rodilla

Érase una vez un kendoka leñador que se le ocurrió practicar karate con un listón, pero hete aquí que el pérfido listón tenía un clavo oculto y con el impulso del pie voló el listón quebrado hasta clavarse en la rodilla del cuitado leñador neófito. Resultado: tarde-noche de domingo en el hospital y tras 10 horas de analítica, radiología, re-vacunación y gamaglobulina antitetánica, antibioticoterápia endovenosa y una rodilla como un melón vuelta a casa. Conclusión : Zapatero a tus zapatos!

Pero esto no es el fin de la historia. Al  segundo día el hielo en la rodilla para disminuir la inflación me causó una quemadura al desplazarse el protector y quedar la bolsa en contacto con la piel. Lo dicho, Cuique suum!!!

La muerte de un rocual

El 12 de marzo apareció varado entre Montgat i El Masnou un ejemplar de rocual de 12 metros de largo. Ya llegó sin vida a la costa. Siempre es triste ver a estos pacíficos gigantes yacer en la arena de la costa. Y como sucede también con los humanos la muerte atrae visitantes...
