Un clavo en la rodilla
Érase una vez un kendoka leñador que se le ocurrió practicar karate con un listón, pero hete aquí que el pérfido listón tenía un clavo oculto y con el impulso del pie voló el listón quebrado hasta clavarse en la rodilla del cuitado leñador neófito. Resultado: tarde-noche de domingo en el hospital y tras 10 horas de analítica, radiología, re-vacunación y gamaglobulina antitetánica, antibioticoterápia endovenosa y una rodilla como un melón vuelta a casa. Conclusión : Zapatero a tus zapatos!
Pero esto no es el fin de la historia. Al segundo día el hielo en la rodilla para disminuir la inflación me causó una quemadura al desplazarse el protector y quedar la bolsa en contacto con la piel. Lo dicho, Cuique suum!!!

Kendo's technique
At the 65th All Japan Kendo Championship in November, 5th dan Hidehisa Nishimura won his 2nd title, beating three-time winner, 7th dan Ryoichi Uchimura, with 2 wrist-guard strikes, the preferred technique of both men. 7th dan kendoka Alex Bennett analyzes the intense battle of technique and temperament, and explains how Nishimura won. Alex also elucidates the basis of successful ippon attacks as well as the art of zanshin, a concept central to kendo philosophy.

Tenshinryu Hyouho is a school of traditional Japanese Martial Arts which comprises various types of classical forms. It also includes battojutsu or the art of drawing the sword. These sword-drawing techniques are so quick that a swordsman has the ability to land a strike first even when being attacked from behind or being chased. Ayako Kisa visits the Tenshinryu Hyouho training center to see how these 400-year-old techniques, which were once used to guard the Shogun, are being passed down.

Self-Sacrificing Ants Refuse Treatment of Their Wounds
Navy Seals abide by a code that no man is left behind. Termite-hunting ants abide by a similar code. A new study reveals that after a raid on a termite nest, the injured ants are cared for by their comrades. If kept by themselves, 80 percent of injured ants died. But if cared for by their nest-mates for even an hour, only a tenth died. Another finding of the study reveals how the ants prioritize who gets cared for and who doesn’t. In human health care, doctors decide which patients need to be helped the most. With ants, it’s the exact opposite. The injured ants themselves decide if they should be treated or not. When no help was in sight, injured ants made a beeline for the nest. But when nest-mates were near, they stumbled and fell, appearing “more injured” as a way to attract aid. But the ants play up their injuries only if they sensed that their problems were minor enough to be treated. If ants were mortally injured, they refused to cooperate, flailing their legs around when probed or picked up, forcing their helpers to abandon them. The mortally wounded ants choose to die rather than have energy and resources wasted on their futile rehabilitation. This discovery marks the first time non-human animals have been observed systematically nursing their wounded back to health.

Japan boasts to the world the ultimate reproduction of "Karakuri" automata. The "Karakuri" automata that bend arrow has been achieved by Hisasige Tanaka, the first president of Toshiba.
